client has initiated asynchronous policy execution

Hi,

We just upgraded to Management Suite 9.60.0.244

When I try to distribute an exe file I get this message and return code 1354.

There is also an exclamation mark on the task and when I start it is possible to restart direcly after. Just as it is not really run?

The file gets copied to the client machine but the file is not executed.

I have tried to run it both silently and with a progress bar but nothing happends.

The log file does not tell me anything I manage to understand.

I have seen this happen to others but no solution how to solve this.

This is found in the sdclient_taskxxx file

The file is distributed from server1

I guess it has something to do with the delivery method? If I check Agent settings in old sheduled tasks I can see they refer to my earlier configured delivery method. In my new task it is default set to  "keep agent's current settings" and it is not possible to find my earlier created delivery methods.

I really would appreciate any help. :-)

Piloting 9.6 and having trouble with Console login NOT on the server

Server installation went surprisingly smooth.  I am able to launch the management suite from the server no problem.  I've ran the UDD and picked up machines on my network and have deployed agents to a select few with minimal problems.  However, after installing the Management Suite on my workstation, it is having trouble logging into the DB on my core.

It looks as though it gets passed the authentication piece, but when connecting to the DB it stalls and throws an error.

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Invalid connection string attribute

Initial findings on this error say to add the port (default in this case) to a reg key on the CORE.  I applied this fix and it did not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Receiving error "Sdclient.exe or the installation program was terminated at the client" when trying to deploy executable package

Running LANDesk Management Suite 9 with Service Pack 2. I'm attempting to install an executable package on a Windows 7 machine. When I try, the console shows a status of "Failed" and the error message "Sdclient.exe or the installation program was terminated at the client. Return code 1." I have never encountered this error before, and all of my other software packages have installed successfully in the past. To be sure, I also deployed a test package that ran successfully.

All LANDesk services are running under the local system account. The log file shows that all of the required files were downloaded to the client, and there are no indications of errors. Here is the last block of text from the log:

There are no errors in the event logs for the device, either. I'm stuck. Appreciate any insights!

Anyone use a VM to maintain their Windows 7 image?

$

I'm trying to move to using VMWare Workstation to maintain my image.

Here's what I plan on doing:

  • Update the VM (patches, new software, new settings)
  • Take a snapshot
  • Sysprep it (remove LANDesk, reset Symantec, delete files/folders, and then sysprep)
  • Pull the .wim
  • Revert to pre-syspreped VM
  • Rinse, repeat

So far I'm having issues though when imaging with that .wim. Most often it's network. Typically the network driver installs however there is no connection. (Shows up in hardware manager) If I try and go to look at the interfaces though I get a "Class not available" error.

Does anyone have any experience/guidance in this?

Upgraded to 9.6 from 9.5SP2 - Now can't delete items from "Pending unmanaged client deployments"

As stated, I've upgraded our core to 9.6 and it seems that I can't delete items from the pending unmanaged client deployments section anymore. If I select a couple and delete them it looks like its deleted, but when I refresh the client view they are back again. Any ideas how to fix this?

Surface Pro 3 - PXE boot

Has anything successfully PXE booted their Surface Pro 3?

Surface Pro 3 - all updates

Official MS Surface Ethernet adapter

PXE Rep on same subnet (confirmed working with other computers)

When I attempt, I hold down volume down, tap power. It goes into PXE mode, then release volume down when Surface logo pops up. It then states it's looking for IP over IPv4, then switches to looking for IP over IPv6, then boots into Windows.

I've read elsewhere it will say to press enter if you want to boot into Windows PE, but I never get that.

I've tried turning safeboot off, no luck

Any help would be appreciated. .

Unable to use any pre-9.6 Scheduled Tasks

After doing an inplace upgrade from 9.0 sp4 to 9.6, we've been having a lot of trouble with our pre-9.6 scheduled tasks.  This was no big deal as we can create new tasks, since the old ones simply failed... but the odd thing is now we can't do anything with the old tasks.

And by "can't do anything", I mean we can't right click on them, can't delete them, if we click on one the charts never show up.  This started this morning. Has anyone else experienced issues with the Scheduled Tasks tab, and unable to right click or see any information in the right hand pane?

Unable to add user in user management, the add button is greyed out

I'm not able to add user from active directory source because the add button is greyed out. The user already added to LANDESK management suite group on the core server.

I noticed that there are a few users with the same condition which is the add button greyed out and I also able to add certain users without any issue. I have submitted the case to support and they advised to upgrade to SP2 since we are now using LDMS 9.5 Unpatched . I'm trying to look for other option. Please advise, thanks.

Is there a document to help those in the Federal or DOD sector with Core server requirements/configuration?

$

Happy Friday all,

Wondering if there is any documentation, help, or if someone could point me in the right direction for "Required services/permissions" on a LD Core server.  I am workin the the DOD sector and we are applying required STIG and GPO security settings.  After the security policies were applied to our Core server all of our clients stopped receiving new polices.  Any new policy sync from the Portal Manager, new policies released either via patch management or software distribution remain in a pending state.  It's as if when we applied our security policy our clients were unable to successfully retrieve new scheduled task policies from the server.   Any help help that could shed some light on the issue it would be much appreciated.

Environment:

LANDESK 9.5 SP2

Core server and database server separate

Approx 2500 - 300 nodes

All known patches have been applied and deployed to Core and agents.

Thanks!

Jason

Mac OSX Yosemite LANDESK Agent loses window focus

$

We recently had a couple users upgrade OSX 10.9 to OSX 10.10 'Yosemite', and it appears the currently selected window will lose focus after about a minute or two. A prime example is if you have Safari open, wait a couple minutes, and the dark grey selected screen will go light grey not allowing you to type.

We're currently running 9.6, and have applied the recent update (LANDESK Support for OS X 10.10 Yosemite), uninstalled/rre-installedhe new agent, and  this issue is still happening. Is this a known issue?

WinPE 4.0 and USB 3

Anyone successfully get USB 3.0 Host and Hub drivers to inject via HII in a Windows 7 image with the new WinPE 4.0 that came with SP1?

I used to be able to load the host drivers in WinPE 3.0 to allow it to see the hub so HII could detect it was there.  In WinPE 4.0, there are no USB 3.0 drivers for it since its Windows 8 based (at least none that i can find).  I tried using the windows 7 drivers but it errors on loading during WinPE setup script. Using Lenovo devices, FWIW.
