Remediated Vulnerabilities Report

We have copied the can Remediated Vulnerabilities report and we opened the report up in Report Designer. We changed all the default values in the report to what we needed.  When we schedule the report to run as a pdf, it never runs and emails.  I'm thinking it's becuase the report normally opens up and asks what values you want.  I thought by changing all the default values to what we need it would just run and email.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this to run and email without having to select values and it taking the defaults?

Updates not Downloading through Management Gateway

$

I have been working on validating the implementation of our management gateway and have run into an issue.

Currently the management gateway will function normally when updating inventories, remote control, security scans, etc. What seems to be failing though is the actual downloading of the patch files when a security scan is run. The agent communicates with the core server, gets the current security definitions, runs through the detection cycle. Then when a needed patch is detected, it fails when trying to download the actual patch files.

As this is a new implementation, I am working off the assumption that I simply missed a setting, but just don't know what it is. The message that appears in the security scan window is "Failed: could not download http://core/ldlogon/patch/updatefile". The client then proceeds to notify the core server that it could not download the patch file and then closes after the 60 second timer. The same patches that can't be download via the management gateway will download and install normally when the agent is placed back on the local network.

What did I miss and where can I look to further determine what might be the cause of the download failure?

Getting a failure on installing a provisioning agent for 9.6. It is my first task after CTOS and I am using the "configure agent" action with telling it to use the self contained and it is the first task under "system configuration". The error is 1603 but i see nothing that explains that failure.

Enable HTML Remote Control for "IT Help Desk"

Hello -

Hoping this is something dumb I've missed.  Is there somewhere specific I have to enable HTML Remote Control for a user role - in addition to the standard Remote Control?

Our "IT Help Desk" users have Remote Control Tools enabled, including View and Edit for the "Remote Control" feature.  Direct and Gateway Remote Control work fine for them, for user on LAN and WAN - no issues that I am aware of.  Both the "LANDesk Administrator" and "IT Help Desk" roles appear the same in the configuration - screen print is below.

They are unable to use the HTML Remote Control feature though.  After entering credentials they receive a pop-up that states "Message from webpage - Invalid username, password, or domain!".

If it matters, they are local administrators on the workstations.

The HTML Remote Control feature works for users with the "LANDesk Administrator" role (which have only "user" local rights on the target workstations).

I have tested from the same source machine and source browser to the same target machines.  In all cases the issue persists - it functions for users with "LANDesk Administrator" role, but not "IT Help Desk" role.

We're running 9.5 SP2.

Thanks!

OS Deployment

Dear All,

I'm new on LANDesk OSD, many questions I want to ask. please!

1, For the Create and Config Master Image for OSD, is it mean that I should setup a new win7 environment in one PC first?

Then customize the OS settings and install applications?

2, If the Master images is ready, how can I capture by LANDesk OSD? How to setup the WINPE with capture script. Capture script stand for what?

I don't know how to write capture script.

3, What is PXE boot? and How to make it right?

4. How to create Unattend.xml? is it a must to finish deployment with it?

Sorry for so many low level questions. Please advise.

Many Thanks!

Ray

Date format in LDMS inventory

$

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to easily convert the date format in LDMS (Version 9 SP3) inventory data from USA date to UK date ie from mm/dd/yyyy to dd/mm/yyyy.

I do quite a few reports by creating custom queries in LDMS and Exporting as CSV, and Excel (in UK installation) doesn't like some of the dates in the exported CSV but does like others.  IE excel doesn't like 03/19/2012 as it think its the 3rd day of the 19th month, but it does like 12/01/2012 which it thinks is 12th of Jan but its really 1st or Dec.

From what i can see in the inventory all dates are stored as USA date format, so im guessing maybe there is a simple setting somewhere to change the date to a more Excel firendly UK format?

Hello All,

This is probably a really simple question although I am not that knowledgeable on scripting nor pushing batch files through LANDesk, but we are trying to put a web icon on all of our employee desktops. I am sure there may be a better way to do this, if so please let me know but here is how I did it.

I created a batch script:

and then created my batch script distribution package pointing to the folder the batch script is in and then creating the scheduled task. I drag my computer in for testing and it fails with error code 4.

Self Extracting Zip then run installer - HowTo

I am currently deploying Office 2010 via UNC admin share and settting the deployment method to "run at source"

This works perfect, but I have some apps that need to be copied to the target machine and installed locally on the workstation.

I read some other posts that suggest for multiple files to create a SFX and deploy.

Just wondering what steps others are using to deploy via this method.

Software Distribution Task stuck on "client initiated asynchronous policy execution"

$

I ran into an issue with a distribution task that had me a bit stumped.

The task was a simple vbscript to perform some custom developed application upgrades. I created a custom vulnerability definition that scanned for a specific file and version on the client computers. I then used the "create query for affected computers" option to establish the target for the software package and set the scheduled time for the task to kick off at a predetermined time.

All the required steps went according to plan except when the task launched at the specified time, every single client reported "the client has initiated an asynchronous policy execution". Then sat there and did nothing. After waiting nearly 45 minutes for the task to execute, I removed all the targets, then manually dropped them back in from the console and relaunched the task. They immediately started downloading and installing the software package and upgraded normally.

So my question is, why did this task do this and how do I prevent it in the future? Many of our software repairs for custom software require us to roll patches within a specified time window and I can't afford to babysit a task every time we need to update it.

Cannot uninstall 9.6 console

I upgraded to 9.6, but was forced to roll back to 9.5 SP2 because our workstations are still x86. (Stupid on my part.)

I cannot uninstall the 9.6 remote console from my workstation. (It's the only x64 workstation.) I keep getting the following errors. I have uninstalled everything I can from Programs and Features except the console.

I need to uninstall the 9.6 console, so I can re-install the 9.5 SP2 console. Any ideas?

Anyone successfully get USB 3.0 Host and Hub drivers to inject via HII in a Windows 7 image with the new WinPE 4.0 that came with SP1?

I used to be able to load the host drivers in WinPE 3.0 to allow it to see the hub so HII could detect it was there.  In WinPE 4.0, there are no USB 3.0 drivers for it since its Windows 8 based (at least none that i can find).  I tried using the windows 7 drivers but it errors on loading during WinPE setup script. Using Lenovo devices, FWIW.
